Creating Connection On and Off the Mat
Extended Family.
At Aikido of Salt Lake, training doesn't end when you step off the mat—it's the beginning of lifelong friendships and connections that extend far beyond the dojo walls. We regularly gather outside of practice to share meals, celebrate promotions and accomplishments, honor the New Year together, and dream about the future of our dojo and our practice. Throughout the year, we travel as a group to train at other dojos, attend workshops and seminars, and deepen our skills alongside fellow aikidoka.
We're proud to be part of a vibrant Aikido community that spans the Salt Lake City area, reaches across the nation, and connects us to practitioners around the world—with a particularly special connection to Brazil, where our dojo makes regular visits. These trips are about more than just training; they're opportunities to explore new places, experience different cultures, share incredible food, and discover the natural beauty of another part of the world, all while strengthening the bonds of friendship on and off the mat.
When you join Aikido of Salt Lake, you're not just joining a dojo—you're becoming part of an extended family of practitioners near and far who share your commitment to the art and your love of community.
Everyone Welcome
At Aikido of Salt Lake, we've created a space where diversity is celebrated and everyone can find their path in the art. Our dojo is a vibrant tapestry of people from different cultures, countries, and backgrounds, speaking different languages and holding different belief systems. In a world that often feels divided, we've created common ground where connection flourishes. Here, what unites us is stronger than what distinguishes us—a shared commitment to the principles of harmony, respect, and personal growth that lie at the heart of Aikido.
Our students include:
Complete beginners discovering martial arts for the first time
Experienced martial artists exploring Aikido's unique approach
Professionals seeking stress relief and personal development
Parents and families learning together
Seniors maintaining flexibility and mental sharpness
Teens building confidence and emotional skills
Our Promise to You
We strive to create a truly inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. Whether you're seeking physical fitness, self-defense skills, stress relief, personal growth, or simply a welcoming community, we're committed to helping you find what you're looking for in your Aikido practice. We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute and something important to learn.
